About the Event
Preservation Piedmont will host a Partner Event at the Tom Tom Festival “How Preservation Creates the Future,” exploring the intersection of historic preservation with affordable housing. Donovan D. Rypkema, a principal of Place Economics in Washington DC, will be the featured speaker at the evening event on Wednesday, April 10, 2019. The event will take place at Common House located at 206 W Market Street in the historic Mentor Lodge - originally a social club for the African American community of Vinegar Hill, built in 1913. A panel discussion will follow. Panelists include Rypkema and three other experts familiar with Charlottesville and its historic neighborhoods:
