Christ Episcopal Church Tour

Join church historian Dr. Michael Dickens for a one hour tour of the sanctuary of Christ Episcopal Church, Charlottesville’s oldest organized church, now entering its third century, and the adjacent Magruder House.  

The present church building with its Tiffany stained glass dates to 1895 and contains elements of the original Christ Church built between 1820-25.  The Magruder House across West Jefferson Street, formerly known as the Magruder Sanitorium and now owned by Christ Church, was purpose-built as Charlottesville’s first hospital in 1899 and it’s architectural features restored and preserved by the church twenty years ago.
